“Abandoned Artifacts” is best imagined as the soundtrack and incidental music for a straight to video dystopian sci-fi movie from the 80s or 90s whose plot was a suspicious mix of Philip k. Dick tropes. It wasn’t available from Blockbuster; it was part of a mobile library that would cruise around the estate at night in a white van. It was hard to tell what was going on in the movie as most of it was shot (badly) at night. The dialogue was poorly recorded and at low volume, but for some reason the synthesised soundtrack was dubbed very loudly.

Back in the real world the four tracks on “Abandoned Artifacts” came from 2017 when I was working on production music (aka library music). Although they were more or less finished at the time, they weren’t taken any further and so they remained abandoned on my hard drive.

Listening to them later I realised they harked back to some of the music I was doing in the 80s, simple monophonic sequences and drones. Much of "Abandoned Artifacts" was done on the Roland SH2 synthesiser I bought in 1980.

In 2022 I decided to finish them off and here they are.
